Beitrag von Joe Kurr » 7. Apr 2008, 20:26

Hi,

I had a chat with Woody about the 2008 Leeuwarden airshow, and thought it would be cool to see you guys on some airshow this year.
So here is a couple of dates for airshows I will be visiting:

30 April - 1 May - Niederrhein Airshow, Weeze Airport, Germany
20 - 21 June - RNLAF Open Days, Leeuwarden Airbase, the Netherlands
5 - 6 July - Defence Days, Florennes Airbase, Belgium
12 - 13 July - Royal International Air Tattoo, RAF Fairford, UK
19 - 20 July - Red Bull Airrace, Rotterdam, the Netherlands
14 September - Open Day, Melsbroek, Brussels, Belgium

Also, in 2008 we will have two more flightsim events which will be worth visiting:

20 - 21 September - MilSim Event, MLM (Military Aviation Museum), Soesterberg
1 - 2 November - International Flightsim Weekend, AvioDrome, Lelystad Airport

Hope to see you again on one of these events!

Letzteres ist ganz bei mir in der nähe.
Vielleicht kriege ich beide Termine hin. Ist jemand dabei?

I'd like to go to the Leeuwarden Airshow... BUT depends much on the program (2007 seemed to be a bit "boring").

Well, in 2007 we had at least one thing you don't see at an airshow all that often (thankfully).

During the F-16 mass-takeoff for the airpower demo on Friday, the third F-16 had a bird strike just after takeoff, resulting it to almost crash.
Thanks to some very good airmanship the pilot got it back on the ground in one piece, after having dropped his fuel tanks only 300 meters from the campsite where we stayed overnight.
I tell you, that was the most tense moment I've ever had on a Dutch air show.

Highlights so far for Leeuwarden this year:

- BBMF (Lancaster + Spitfire + Hurricane)
- B-17
- Frecce Tricolori (they have been banned since the 2005 Open Days at Gilze-Rijen for flying too low)
- US Navy, type TBC
